…and out with the new
It’s been a while since the last post and there have been a number of reasons. Due to various private circumstances each of the band members has had to relax their schedule a little here and there – and looking back, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Recently we’ve been giving some larger projects a go, doing a little nosing in old sessions and in some cases revisiting them. Right now we have a bunch of songs ready to release including a couple of older numbers re-mixed and partially re-recorded. Things are looking good for the next couple of months and probably after then as far as scheduling is concerned and general rehearsals are nearly underway. After some considerable delays with our publisher, we’re now working with a different company in which we have a little more faith. Additionally, we’ve been shooting some videos, so we’re in the process of releasing there, too. Be sure to subscribe to the Youtube channel if you want to be notified of any uploads!
Technical Advances
During the last few months the facilities have been expanded a little, too. In addition to the current synths, we’ve managed to entirely restore a badly soiled and gunked up Roland JV-80! With it’s excellent synthesizer configuration, outstanding editable patches/performances and features like AfterTouch this is a great addition to the studio. We’re working on a fairly piano-oriented number at the moment and it’s proving itself worth the time, effort and money invested!
Again with a lot of labor and handfuls of spare parts we’ve also got a late 70’s Studer 1/4″ reel to reel system fully operational and calibrated. Some components are still on order and must be installed before the final adjustments can be made and it can be reliably put to use, but preliminary tests look excellent. In lieu of the added equipment, it’s also time to expand the mixing desk from 24 to 48 analog channels. This will in turn also allow more practical parallel compression when using the newly installed 1176’s.
